Summer in the City
Summer in the City: Multimedia Journalism Camp
June 26-30, 2009
Ryerson University, School of Journalism, Toronto
This summer, in partnership with East Metro Youth Services, Ryerson University’s School of Journalism presents a five-day intensive, multimedia journalism camp.
The Verse City Journalism Workshop at Ryerson University is designed to encourage youth from Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods to consider a career in journalism. Twenty-eight high school age teens from seven of Toronto’s designated priority neighbourhoods will be selected to spend five days attending an intensive, rigorous multimedia workshop at the Ryerson School of Journalism.
This summer, the workshop focuses on multimedia and backpack journalism.
At the Verse City Journalism Workshop, participants will develop their reporting and writing skills and they will learn to turn those stories into video and audio pieces. Students will shoot photos and create lively slideshows.
At the Verse City Journalism Workshop:
- Experience life away from home by living in downtown Toronto in on of the Ryerson University dorms
- Get expert, insider college and career advice to help you pursue your dreams
- Create your own multimedia website VerseCity.org
Ryerson faculty and visiting professionals will put you through the rigorous paces and get you on your way to producing cutting edge journalism through multimedia. Current students and alumni of the program, many of whom work at major media outlets, will drop by to mentor.
