The Verse City Workshop needs volunteers
In order to successfully run our summer camp this year, the Verse City Workshop needs faculty, students and journalists to volunteer.
In particular, Verse City needs:
- mentors willing to assist with teaching: editing, storytelling, interviewing and video editing.
- mentors willing to share and talk about their experiences in J-School at the opening night reception.
- senior students or graduates are welcome to teach one or two hour sessions
A planning team of Ryerson Journalism students and youth from Scarborough are involved in the planning stages. The team could use some help! The next student volunteer Planning Committee meets on Wednesday May 6th at 12pm in RCC 189. ALL ARE WELCOME.
If you are willing and interested in helping out with the planning of this summer journalism camp for marginalized youth please get in touch by email (Vinita Srivastava: vsrivast@ryerson.ca).
The Verse City Journalism Workshop at Ryerson University is designed to encourage youth from Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods to consider a career in journalism. Twenty-eight high school aged teens from seven of Toronto’s designated priority neighbourhoods will be selected to spend four days attending an intensive, rigorous multimedia course at the Ryerson School of Journalism.
